To support SME’s in innovations and sustainable development, the Welsh government every year contracts design, manufacturing, intellectual property (IP), innovation experts to provide free consultation for SME’s. I met design expert Eoin Baily from the Enterprising consultancy, to discuss the SME’s need for designers consultancies. I learned that the largest number of improvements in Welsh SME’s are done in waste management.
The experts visit companies, analyze the existing situation and provide knowledge of how to improve the company’s product life cycle. If the company decides that there is a need to have a detailed designer consultancy or already have ideas of necessary technological improvements, they can apply for Welsh government funding. (50% co financing, the maximum amount of the financing 25 000 pounds)
